Vetting panel reinstates sacked policeman

Nairobi, Kenya: Sacked senior policeman Philip Tuimur has been reinstated after review of his appeal by National Police Service Commission (NPSC) vetting panel. Twelve officers of the ranks of Assistant Commisioner of Police (ACP) and senior ACPs found unsuitable to serve in police and sacked. Nine more will be recalled for further investigations.
The 12 were sacked because of lack of discipline and integrity, financial impropriety, abuse of human rights and engagement in criminal activities. NPSC Chairman Johnston Kavuludi says anxiety here is big. Each officer will know his or her fate via a letter delivered to them personally. An ambulance is on standby to assist those who may faint.
