Olita had reportedly returned home on Saturday from Nairobi where he had been living after the burial of his mother. His brother Matthews Ogola was quoted in the media to have said Olita had been suffering from arthritis, diabetes and high blood pressure by the time he died.
“Olita developed pressure after the burial of his mother on Saturday,” said his daughter Risper Odero. “We are (the family) confronting the reality of losing two relatives within such a short time.”
Born in 1944, Olita joined Pap Oriang Primary School in 1951, before enrolling at St Mary’s Yala in 1958 for his O level.
When he was acting the role as Idi Amin he wrote a letter to him requesting to meet him but he never responded.
The late Olita, has left behind a widow and several children. He schooled in the Pap Oriang Primary School before joining St Mary’s School Yala where he was an active drama club member.
After completing his secondary education, Olita worked at Brooke Bond Company in Kericho and Union Carbide in Nakuru before venturing into the film industry.
A funeral committee has been set up in his home village chaired by the South Alego Ward representative Joshua Osuri. The date of burial will be communicated later.
