"MLIKA WEZI":Mandago raises Sh28 million in three hours for re-election campaign

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago raised Sh28 million in three hours on Tuesday night to finance campaigns for his re-election on August 8.
About 600 residents attended a dinner hosted by Mandago and Elgeyo Marakwet county boss Alex Tolgos at Gulab Lochab hall.
They included members of the business community, athletes, county staff and other supporters.
A prominent farmer gave Sh2 million as appreciation for Mandago's efforts in the fight for farmer's rights in the region.
Others lauded Mandago for helping improve the business environment in Eldoret town.
"Now we have street lights, good roads and security which enable us to do business for 24 hours daily,” said businessman Joseph Wainaina.
Mandago asked residents to vote for him saying his administration had performed well despite the challenges of devolution.
"I have laid foundation for taking Uasin Gishu to the next level. Now we are aiming to ensure every home has piped water by 2018," he said.
“Uasin Gishu does not need a new person who will have[have to learn] the job. We just need a second term to complete what we are already doing."
The county boss pledged to build more industries, create jobs for youths and support women empowerment projects.
Tolgos said he had worked closely with Mandago and that they both deserved re-election to push for development.
Mandago intends to defend his seat on a Jubilee ticket. Others hoping to get the party ticket are businessman Bundotich Zedekiah, also known as Buzeki, Edward Serem and Felix Butit.
Buzeki has been carrying out a well-oiled campaign in the region and is expected to give Mandago tough competition.
The businessman enjoys support mainly in urban areas and Ainabkoi constituency.
