Two cops, three others arrested for 'casting out' evil spirits in Bungoma

Five men pretending to cast out evil spirits were on Saturday arrested in Sikata area in Kanduyi constituency.
The men who wore robes and priests cape, said they were sent by the holy spirit from Nairobi to come and rid the village of the roaming evil spirits.
Bungoma South deputy OCS Isaack Kasembeli on Saturday, said the men demanded to go with a woman whom they claimed was involved in witchcraft.
"The men went to her house and found a pot with grass and other things they claimed was paraphernalia. They then demanded that the woman should go with them to Nairobi so that the spirits can be driven away," he said.
The police boss said before the woman left with the men, one of the area residents started protesting saying "this people are a fake".
"The residents sensed that the men were fake exorcists and called the police officers who came and demanded to know their intentions," he said.
Kasembeli said among those arrested were two police officers from Ruai police station in Nairobi.
Police recovered two pistols and two handcuffs.
"This men are belived to be behind a gang that is terrorising this community. We will deal with them accordingly," he said.
The men were taken to Bungoma police station.
