President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy ,
William Ruto, to save their collapsing
multi-billion shillings miraa sector
following the ban on miraa consumption
and trade in the United Kingdom.
Speaking at Maili Tatu in Igembe South Sub-County , the farmers, led by
Nyambene Miraa Traders Association Chairman, David Mblakii, vowed to
close all roads in the County and disrupt learning in all public schools in Meru
until the Jubilee Government hears their plea.
The traders accused Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto of misleading the
country by abandoning the US and UK for China, a country they said is not a
good trading partner especially when miraa is involved because Chinese are
not good consumers of miraa.
“Uhuru/ Ruto have failed us terribly . First they failed to secure the UK market
and now they have gone to China knowing pretty well Chinese are not good
consumers of miraa”, said Mblakii.
The Meru farmers vowed to join former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s CORD if
Uhuru/ Ruto’s Government will not get them a good market for their miraa,
