Deputy President William Ruto has reportedly told URP MPs currently
having a closed door meeting in his office not to support the motion by
Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter to censure Devolution CS Anne Waiguru.
The URP group have been sending mixed signals on Waiguru ouster bid
even as Keter revealed he has collected enough signatures to table a
motion in parliament to discuss the conduct of the powerful CS seen as
close to President Uhuru.
While State House has consistently defended Waiguru from any wrong
doing, the opposition, led by CORD leader Raila Odinga, have called on
the President to hold her accountable over the loss of over sh 800
million at the devolution ministry.
Ruto is said to have implored on the MPs not to give the opposition a
window to attack the government at a time the country is volatile
following the resurgent ICC debate. The Deputy President also told the
MPs he doesn’t want their ‘friends’ from Mt. Kenya to hold him
responsible if Waiguru exits government.
