Former
Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Monday
brought Narok to a standstill as he landed
in his chopper for the burial of a young man,
who was shot dead by police for
demonstrating against corruption in the
County Government.
The former PM received a heroic welcome
with almost the entire community on the
ground to receive him.
Addressing mourners, Raila asked the Maasai community to ditch Uhuru/ Ruto’s
Jubilee and join the winning team – CORD – saying the Government has
completely forgotten the Maasai people and pledged to involve them fully when
he forms the next Government.
Yesterday’s event shook Jubilee to the core with power brokers now going back on
the drawing board to restrategize ahead of the Kajiado Central byelection, after a
good number of Jubilee legislators expressed their willingness to join Raila
Odinga, saying as Maasais, they do not forget someone who reaches out to them
when they are in need like what Raila did.
Among the URP legislators who were present to receive Raila Odinga and who
expressed willingness to join CORD included Senator Stephen Ole Ntutu and MPs
Moitalel Ole Kenta (Narok North), Korei Lemein (Narok South), Patrick Ntutu
(Narok West) and Jonathan Ng’eno (Emurua Dikirr).
