Mourners attacked by bandits in Kapedo



Baringo, Kenya: Six vehicles ferrying mourners from a burial of a banditry victim was yesterday morning attacked by suspected bandits near Kasarani area in the border of Baringo and Turkana area raising tensions among the locals.

The mourners who were headed to Lodwar after the burial of Mary Nang'ole, 28, who was killed in the first incident where three police officers were killed in Ameyan area in East Pokot  when they were ambushed.

According to sources on the ground who spoke to The us, the mourners where in motorcade of six vehicles when the bandits struck causing fierce exchange of fire between them and the security personnel who were escorting the mourners.

Though there were no casualties during the incident the residents from Tukana have called on the government to create a permanent KDF camp in the area to keep peace between the warring Pokot and Turkana communities.
