ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has divulged to Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe what will happen to the Handshake after ODM facing off with Jubilee in the Bonchari by-elections slated for 18th of May 2021.

This comes in the wake of Murathe saying that Bonchari was part of the Jubilee electorates and that ODM should step aside.Sifuna affirmed that his party was not going to relent and that they will still field a candidate in the place with Pavel Oimeke allowed to contest for the area MP’s seat on the ODM ticket. He reiterated that the handshake should be separated from the by-election.

According to the outspoken Secretary-General, the handshake will continue even if the ODM candidate is defeated. “We will compete in Bonchari and still work together on the handshake agenda. I see no contradiction. We are strengthening ourselves as a party and preparing to compete everywhere in the country,” Sifuna said.

On Wednesday, Jubilee vice-chairman David Murathe spoke at Jubilee Party Headquarters in Pangani informing that Bonchari parliamentary seat wasn’t ODM’s. “Bonchari parliamentary seat wasn’t ODM’s. We have not done anything wrong in fielding a candidate. Last elections we were the runners-up; we want to become number one now,” Murathe said.
